Doing What Is Necessary
Big changes are in store for Lone Gold and we want to let you know where we are.
So far, so good
Because we are not extremely busy at this time, now is the moment we get to make changes to our platform. For these changes to work correctly, we have to build everything from scratch. That's due to software changes and security updates that have occurred over the past year.
Fortunately, this will not affect Lone Gold or any of our sites at this time. But as the calendar turns to August, these changes will go in effect. The changes I am talking about are addressing a good portion of the issues that have been brought up.
I appreciate the feedback from everyone involved and am looking forward to bring these changes to the forefront. For the most part, the changes we are making are not wholesale, but the look of each site will be different. Here is what you should be expecting to see in the next month.
Improved Access & Visibility
You will notice that each of our sites will have access to our membership site. As of right now, we are still having issues with the site itself. But as far as I am concerned, it will not be an issue as it pertains to becoming a member. We are working hard to resolve those issues and hopefully it will be up and running very soon.
Other than that, we have dimmed down the white background of our pages so that your eyes won't be strained as you are reading. We've also made the font bigger, and yes, no more dead links and buttons.
Lone Gold Sports will be the biggest change
Throughout the course of last year, we have gotten quite a bit of feedback about what we should be doing. For nearly ten years, we have posted weekly rankings on certain leagues that we follow. While the rankings have served a purpose, I know you expect something more from us.
Since the beginning of July, we have decided to give the posting rankings on our social media sites a rest. We are doing this because making these postings is a drain on both you and us. That doesn't mean we are going to stop doing rankings, we are changing how we present these rankings.
Instead, we are going to be putting more of our focus on our customers who want to post on this site. Of course, if you want to post on any of our other sites you can do that as well. We really want the sports site to be at the forefront of this upcoming development.
We are also in the works to establishing an archive site for our rankings. The whole idea is to make the experience richer and easier to accessible. That may come later this year or as late as the Summer of 2023. Our primary focus is the main site, but we'll be giving you updates as we go along.
Addressing the Pathfinder social media situation
For those of you wondering why Pathfinder does not a social media presence, let me answer that question candidly. Even though Pathfinder is its own website, it actually serves as the advertising department for Lone Gold. Instead of going through the hassle of creating another social media page, we will be using Lone Gold's corporate social media accounts. It makes the process much easier, plus it makes keeping up with contacts much simpler.
The one issue I do want to clear up as it pertains to Pathfinder and Gold Star Member is this. While both these platforms are basically profile based, Pathfinder is used for advertising purposes. As a Gold Star Member, you are not required to have a Pathfinder account. But if you decide that's want you desire, you're going to have make a purchase.
Conclusion
With all the changes to our websites, we will obviously be updating our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Our target date to getting all of our sites done is August 15th. That will mean we will be taking down the sites from its current form.
In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy Lone Gold and all of the sites in the coming days ahead. Even though this is our down period, this does not mean we are not hard at work.
Personally, I want to thank all of you for your input. It's nice to know that people care enough to say what needs to be said. We are doing everything to making all of our sites more geared towards marketing and advertising.
Thanks for giving me the time to write this post, but I need to get back to work. We still got a ways to go.
