Fun With Acronyms
It never hurts to have any fun. Especially, when you are working. In this post, Aaron Phillips will be telling us about what The RTP is and what it stands for.
Back in the day
When I was growing up, I would hang out with my friends and do things that kids would typically do. There were those good times where we would play ball and hang out with each other afterwards. Of course, there were other moments that were hurtful and made matters worse. Yet, we would find a way to move forward and find our way back to those moments of joy.
One of the things that we would do to remind ourselves of the good ole days, was to convert words into acronyms. When getting into fist fights was not an option (which was most of the time), we had to redirect that hostility into something more productive. It was in those moments that we began to find common ground and share a laugh. Believe it or not, it is still something we do to this day.
As I have gotten older, I have realized that I use acronyms more than I like to admit. In some ways, I feel like a kid again when I make words from random letters in the alphabet. But as an adult, I marvel at the thought of how those words came together. Regardless of who has what viewpoint, when someone applies acronyms the right way, it's a good thing to see that we have some form of a common bond. Of course, that all depends on who that person really is.
In my previous post, I briefly mentioned the RTP and what our plans are for this development. One of the points that I brought up was our difficulty coming up with the appropriate words that can line up with what we are going to be doing. But as we were moving forward, we decided that this acronym can have more than one defining phrase. So, that's how it's going to be.
Over this past month, we challenged ourselves to find three good phrases that fit the acronym and our definition of how the RTP should be seen. Even though this has been a labor of love for us, we want our pain to be your gain. To put it another way, we want you to have fun with this post.
Our challenge for you is this, I want to see how many times you see a word that starts with the letters "R", "T", and "P" in succession. When we use the RTP as initials, it does not count. Let's have some fun and learn while we do this.
Remember This Profile
There are many advertising campaigns where you say the catchphrase and you can instantly remember who made that quote famous. A catchphrase can be an effective tool to generate business. It can also be a subliminal gimmick that wants you to spend your hard earned money on something you may not want or need.
To be clear, there is nothing wrong with wanting to make money. We just hope that becoming rich and famous is not the main (and only) reason why you are doing business. But, if you happen to become wealthy and popular, it should be as a result of the blood, sweat, and tears you have put into your enterprise.
When it comes to your brand, the most effective advertising tool is your success. If what you are selling is that good, then you don't need a gimmick to bring the point home. But, if there is a phrase that just happens to work with your product or service, then make sure that the words are synonymous with your mission statement.
At Lone Gold, we want people to see your brand as more than just words on a page that they see flash for seconds at a time. For customers to read the points you are trying to make about your brand, they need to have that information available when the time is right for them.
So, instead of potential and existing customers reading about your brand like a summarized gimmick, we want your brand to read like a profile page. When people read about you in that fashion, you will give them an impression that you are worth doing business with. You are more than just a person with a story to tell, you are a person who has found everlasting success no matter what.
More importantly, you will have a brand that people will want and need. As the audience is reading more about you, we want them to see that you are someone who is trustworthy. We want people to look at your brand and say "I have to remember this profile".
You can always say the words that can be the next memorable catchphrase. Again, there's nothing wrong with wanting to generate traffic. What is more important to us at Lone Gold is that you are able to walk the walk.
Look at it this way, there are two ways for someone to remember your advertising campaign. It can remembered as an campaign that overvalued the brand. Or, you can be known as someone who lets the brand speak for its self. The main goal of your campaign is to help you gain and maintain momentum. That all starts with a well written profile.
Recognizing Two Perspectives
For a relationship to exist, there needs to be at least two parties involved. To make that relationship last, there needs to be a recognition of everyone's contributions. You wouldn't be wrong to think I am talking about communication between business and customer. But for any form of communication to be effective, there needs to be verifiable proof that the marketing and advertising strategies are in sync.
As you read an RTP profile, we want to you to see how simple this process really is. When people read your profile, they will have a better understanding of your brand's identity. If you happen to gain more customers, that is wonderful. But, if the people respect the process you are going through, then you are on the right path.
The whole idea of these profiles is to promote brand awareness. When you have a product or service that people want, your marketing and advertising strategies should be simple. It's all a matter of the right people finding you. We have no doubt that once they find your profile, there will be a connection.
Realizing True Power
Some people will look at the word power and associate it with strength. Others might say that power is descriptive of authority. You can say that power is also relative to control. But for power to be true, you need balance with all three descriptions.
There is nothing wrong with people trying to convince you to buy what they are selling. We just don't want you to be coerced into buying something you don't need nor want. Just remember, you will have an opportunity to make a purchase. You also have the right to make said purchase or not.
Whatever your decision is, we are not here to pass judgement. You know what you want better than anyone else. If you feel like you made the right decision at that time, then don't regret it. Again, your power to make an independent choice is your ultimate right to possess.
As you are reading one of the profiles that we have written, we want you to have a say about how this specific brand has impacted you. Whether you are an existing or potential customer, you should make your comments known. The more input Lone Gold receives, the easier it is for us to promote.
Preparing the way
Currently, the plan is to implement the RTP into all of our platforms by the end of this year. We will be starting these profiles in our sports blog sometime in March. Hopefully, you will be able to have an idea of how they work, and not before too long, we will be able to broaden our horizons.
My expectation for the RTP is that people will be able to feel like they are running the point. No matter if you are the brand making a sale or a customer making a purchase, you should feel empowered regardless of the result. Let's have fun with this and let's see where this goes.

P.S. Let us know how many times you have seen a phrase starting with "R", "T", and "P". Initials don't count!!
